Gratitude has become a big part of my life. It is actually my fist "rule of happiness" that I came up with for myself years ago: find something to be grateful for. So I try to practice it every day, although its not always easy. Some days all I can do is fall back on my two rules, but I can usually find at least one thing to appreciate. And that brings me some much needed perspective. Because I've got it better than a lot of people. This is actually the first way that gratitude can help you in your life: Perspective. On a good day, I write what and who I'm grateful for in a journal and even send the person I'm thinking of a card in the mail. While I'm doing that, I think about how that person is going to feel when they get that card. Will they smile? Will they laugh? And that makes me feel really good.
